Assistant Early Head Start Director (AVANCE)

In this position, leadership and management skills and abilities are essential to overseeing the staff and operations of a comprehensive, quality child and family program on a daily and on going basis. Must be knowledgeable of Early Head Start Performance Standards, State Licensing Standards, AVANCE-San Antonio policies and procedures and ensure their implementation.

Experience: Required: Minimum three years working for a non-profit organization or social service entity in program development and implementation in the field of family support and or early childhood education, personnel management and public relations. Preferred: Minimum five years Early Head Start Experience in home-based and center-based settings, advanced computer literacy skills, and grant writing skills.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with related work experience in Early Childhood Education.

Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Child Development Teacher (PCEP) (AVANCE)

This position is responsible for working with infants and toddlers utilizing specialized knowledge and skills in order to properly address the physical, cognitive, social and emotional developmental needs of children.

This position is responsible for providing nutritious meals and snacks to enrolled children  and who attend special events. This service must provide opportunities for the development of positive attitudes toward healthy foods; for decision-making, sharing, communicating with others; and for the development of muscle control and eye-hand coordination. The food provided should also emphasize appropriate eating patterns and mealtime behavior when children observe adult behavior at family style meals.

Experience: Required: One year experience in commercial kitchen or in a public school cafeteria as a cook. Preferred: Three plus years in commercial kitchen or in a public school cafeteria as a cook.

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED; Must have a Food Handler Certificate.

Preferred Education: Post-secondary courses in related field; must have a Food Handler Certificate.

Executive Assistant and Board Liaison (AVANCE)

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Executive Assistant/Board Liaison will provide executive support to the Executive Director and administrative support to one Senior Director.  The Executive Assistant will serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the office of the Executive Director.  The Executive Assistant will serve as a liaison to the board of directors and senior management teams; organize and coordinate executive outreach and external relations efforts; and oversee special projects.  The Executive Assistant must be creative and enjoy working in a mid-sized, entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven, results-oriented and community-centric.  The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.  The Executive Assistant will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.

Experience: Five years of experience supporting C-Level Executives, preferably in a non-profit organization. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat.

Required Education: Minimum of an Associate Degree or equivalent with five years of related work experience in a business or nonprofit environment.

Preferred Education: BA/BS in Business Administration, Communication, or Social Sciences
