Bus Driver (Parent Child) (AVANCE)

This position is responsible for  transporting families to and from home to Avance centers, and special events.  Periodically will involve extended working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Experience: Previous experience in childcare transportation, Care Safety Training, Van Driver Training

Required Education: High School (proof) or GED & Commercial Driver License (CDL)

Child Development Teacher (Parent Child) (AVANCE)

This position is responsible for working with infants and toddlers utilizing specialized knowledge and skills in order to properly address the physical, cognitive, social and emotional developmental needs of children.

Experience: Required: Six months in a licensed childcare facility or in a public/private school early childhood facility unless candidate has completed an early childhood degree program where practicum(s) were required. Preferred: Six months working with infants and toddlers in a child development center or home-based program.

Assistant Cook TX WG (Early Head Start)

This position is responsible for assisting the Cook in providing nutritious meals and snacks for children enrolled and attending AVANCE's Early Head Start programs and coordinates food services for all EHS special events.  Maintains kitchen safety and health standards according to licensing standards, USDA Regulations, and Health Department.  Maintains a positive attitude while performing job duties.

Basic Job Duties:
Clean, cut, and cook meat, fish, or poultry.  Bake breads, rolls and other pastries.
Cook food according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served.  Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils and other cooking equipment. Clean and inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.

Experience: One year experience in commercial kitchen or in a public school cafeteria as a cook.

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED; Must have a Food Handler Certificate.

Preferred Education: Post-secondary courses in related field; must have a Food Handler Certificate.

Bus Monitor/Floater (Early Head Start)

This position is responsible for providing childcare services for children and monitoring and ensuring the safety of the children while onboard the bus, exiting the bus and to their destination point.  The Teacher Assistant is responsible for providing children with a safe learning environment and providing them with child development instruction/activities as directed by the Teacher, Center Director and Education Coordinator.

Experience: Required: One year working with children in a licensed child care facility. Preferred: Two years working with children ages 3-5.

Required Education: Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

Data Entry Clerk (Head Start)

Become knowledgeable of all AVANCE's policies and procedures, and Head Start Performance Standards; will enter children's enrollment applications, family data, and medical record information into PROMIS and other appropriate computer programs.  Works cooperatively with staff to facilitate the accurate coding and entry of information in compliance with program guidelines.  Will keep close communication with staff on status of participants regarding transitions, drops and enrollments to ensure accurate PROMIS reporting.  Assist in preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as required.  Enters in-kind data and provide reports as required.  

Experience: Six (6) months to one-year experience in processing intake in Early Head Start or other non-profit programs.

Required Education: High School Graduate and some college course work.

Preferred Education: Associates degree in Office Managmement or related Administrative field.

Teacher Floater (Head Start)

Respects and promotes the unique identity of each parent and child and refrain from stereotyping on a basis of gender, race, ethnicity, culture, religion or disability, follows program confidentiality policies concerning information about parents, children, and other staff members.  Knows each child's capabilities and modes of learning, to assist with individually appropriate activities in the classroom.  Promotes feelings of security and trust in the children by being warm supportive and comforting. This position requires the ability to visually and audibly monitor children, bend, lift, stoop, sit on the floor and pull in variable directions when working with children and equipment.

Experience: Two years working in a licensed child care facility.

Required Education: An Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with a minimum of 18 hours in Early Childhood Development Education.

Preferred Education: Two years working in a Head Start Program.

Family Support Worker (Uvalde) (HS Wintergarden)

This position is responsible for Case Management services through referral, advocacy, and brokering.  Services will be provided to families in compliance with the underlying principals and goals of AVANCE policy, and Head Start Performance Standards, federal, state, and local regulations.

Experience: Required:1 year working experience with high risk families, and familiar with case management systems.

Required Education: Associates in Social Work or related field

Preferred Education: Bachelors in Social Work with Certification
