Child Development Teacher/Parent-Child Educat (AVANCE)

This position is responsible for working with infants and toddlers utilizing specilaized knowledge and skills in order to properly address the physical, cognitive, social and emotional developmental needs of children at Center Based and School Based sites.

Experience: Six months in a Licensed Childcare Facility or in an Early Childhood Public/Private School working with infants and toddlers

Required Education: Associates's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 18 hours in Early Childhood Education

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 18 hours in Early Childhood Education

Executive Assistant (AVANCE)

The Executive Assistant will provide administrative support to the Executive Director and the Operations Officer for the purpose of achieving maximum efficiency, accuracy and responsiveness in the daily operations of the AVANCE-San-Antonio Chapter. 

Experience: Two to Three years experience as a secretary/assistant to a top executive or administrator to include two years of preparing business correspondence and using advanced word processing programs

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED with formal training in Business office Procedures, Office systems, Business Communication and Computer Literacy

Preferred Education: Associates of Bachelor's Degree with formal training in Business Office Procedures, Ofice systems, Business Communication and Computer Literacy

Human Resources Administrative Assistant II (AVANCE)

Assist the HR Director in assuring the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of Avance-San Antonio, Inc. employee personnel records and HR related files. Assure the integrity of all aspects of employees benefit administration, worker’s compensation and risk/safety management and enters all personnel related data into the HRIS system. Assists with employee processing, maintenance of position vacancies, benefits and pay inquiries, maintenance and filing of HR related forms and reports, and upkeep of required publications and regulations. Performs all HR Department administrative duties and other special duties as assigned

Experience: One to three years HR related work experience with specific experience in benefits, compensation, safety training and human resource and payroll information systems. Prior work as an HR Assistant or similar position is preferred with three to five years HR experience.

Required Education: Associates degree in Human Resource Management.or related field

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or related field

Family Development Worker (San Antonio) (Early Head Start)

The Family Development Worker will be responsible for: 1) providing Early Head Start families with comprehensive family development and adult education services through the development and implementation of an individualized service delivery plan; 2) insure all services  focus on promoting the educational and economic success of the parents that in turn will promote the child’s overall growth and development

Experience: Required:Six months working with high risk families Preferred: One year working with high risk families with similar target groups

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field.

Preferred Education: Masters Degree in Social Work or related field

Center Director (Early Head Start)

The major responsibilities of the Center Director will be to manage the:

  1. Operations of the Center
  2. Delivery of services to children and families

Experience: Required: Six months in a licensed childcare facility or in a public/private school early childhood facility unless candidate has completed an early childhood degree program where practicum(s) were required. Preferred: Some experience working with infants and toddlers in a child development center or home-based program.

Required Education: A Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) that is appropriate to the age of the children being served in center-based programs

Preferred Education: An Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field with at least 18 hours of Early Childhood Development coursework completed

Coordinator of Center-Based Services (Early Head Start)

The Coordinator of Center-Based Services is responsible for planning and delivering AVANCE's Early Head Start and Early Head Start Expansion/Child Care Partnership Child Development Services in a center-based setting in accordance with AVANCE's mission, Head Start Performance Standards, Texas State Licensing Regulations  and all applicable local polices, rules and regulations.     

Experience: Four years experience in Center Management or four years in Child Care Management or Supervision, working with high at-risk families

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

Data Entry Clerk (Head Start)

Become knowledgeable of all AVANCE's policies and procedures, and Head Start Performance Standards; will enter children's enrollment applications, family data, and medical record information into Child Plus and other appropriate computer programs.  Works cooperatively with staff to facilitate the accurate coding and entry of information in compliance with program guidelines.  Will keep close communication with staff on status of participants regarding transitions drops and enrollments to ensure accurate Child Plus reporting.  Assist in preparation of weekly , monthly and quarterly reports as required.  Enters in-kind data and provide reports as required.  

Experience: Six (6) months to one-year experience in processing intake in Head Start or other non-profit programs.

Required Education: High School Graduate and some college course work.

Preferred Education: Associates degree in Office Managmement or related Administrative field.

Facilities Maintenance Technician (Head Start)

This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, safety and security of the facilities, materials, equipment and vehicles owned and operated by the Head Start program. 

Experience: At least six months experience working in child care facilities maintenance services and familiar with Facilities Maintenance Safety Rules and Regulations

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED plus training and certifications in appropriate areas of facility maintenance

Teacher Assistant II (Head Start)

The Teacher Assistant II will be assigned to a specific classroom and  is responsible for providing children a safe and developmentally appropriate environment that promotes the child’s cognitive, social/emotional, health and physical development through effective delivery of instruction/activities as directed by the Teacher, and is accordance with Head Start performance Standards and Federal, State, and Local regulations.

Experience: (Preferred) One year working in a licensed child care facility.
