Child Development Teacher/Parent-Child Educat (AVANCE)

This position is responsible for working with infants and toddlers utilizing specilaized knowledge and skills in order to properly address the physical, cognitive, social and emotional developmental needs of children at Center Based and School Based sites.

Experience: Six months in a Licensed Childcare Facility or in an Early Childhood Public/Private School working with infants and toddlers

Required Education: Associates's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 18 hours in Early Childhood Education

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 18 hours in Early Childhood Education

Executive Assistant (AVANCE)

The Executive Assistant will provide administrative support to the Executive Director and the Operations Officer for the purpose of achieving maximum efficiency, accuracy and responsiveness in the daily operations of the AVANCE-San-Antonio Chapter. 

Experience: Two to Three years experience as a secretary/assistant to a top executive or administrator to include two years of preparing business correspondence and using advanced word processing programs

Human Resources Administrative Assistant II (AVANCE)

Assist the HR Director in assuring the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of Avance-San Antonio, Inc. employee personnel records and HR related files. Assure the integrity of all aspects of employees benefit administration, worker’s compensation and risk/safety management and enters all personnel related data into the HRIS system. Assists with employee processing, maintenance of position vacancies, benefits and pay inquiries, maintenance and filing of HR related forms and reports, and upkeep of required publications and regulations. Performs all HR Department administrative duties and other special duties as assigned

Experience: One to three years HR related work experience with specific experience in benefits, compensation, safety training and human resource and payroll information systems. Prior work as an HR Assistant or similar position is preferred with three to five years HR experience.

Required Education: Associates degree in Human Resource Management.or related field

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or related field

Family Development Worker (San Antonio) (Early Head Start)

The Family Development Worker will be responsible for: 1) providing Early Head Start families with comprehensive family development and adult education services through the development and implementation of an individualized service delivery plan; 2) insure all services  focus on promoting the educational and economic success of the parents that in turn will promote the child’s overall growth and development

Experience: Required:Six months working with high risk families Preferred: One year working with high risk families with similar target groups

This position is responsible for supporting the Early Head Start Coordinator of Disabilities and Mental Health with various administrative tasks to include data entry, preparation of referrals, notification letters and coordination of appointments to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and AVANCE-San Antonio, Inc. established policies, procedures and goals. 

Experience: One year experience formal training in business office procedures, office systems, business communications and computer literacy.

Preferred Education: BA degree in social services or related field or two year associate degree with work experience

Cook (Early Head Start)

This position is responsible for providing nutritious meals and snacks for children enrolled and attending AVANCE's Early Head Start programs to include when attending special events. This position must provide opportunities for the development of positive attitudes toward healthy foods; decision-making, sharing, communicating with others and for the development of muscle control and eye-hand coordination. This position should ensure the food provided emphasizes appropriate eating patterns and mealtime behavior as children observe adult behavior at family style meals.

Experience: One year experience in commercial kitchen or in a public school cafeteria as a cook. Preferred: Three + years experience in commercial kitchen or in a public school cafeteria as a cook.

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED; Must have a Food Handler Certificate

Preferred Education: Post secondary courses in culinary or related field, must have a Food Handler Certificate

Health Program Assistant (Early Head Start)

This position is responsible for providing general support to EHS program staff in the area of Health services to include enrollment. Responsible for the data entry of program information and generating reports as requested to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and all applicable federal, state, local and agency policies, rules and regulations.  

Experience: Six months to one year experience in recruitment and processing intake in Head Start or other non-profit programs

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED with college coursework

Preferred Education: Associates degree in Computer Technology, Behaviorial Sciences or related field

Facilities Maintenance Technician (Head Start)

This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, safety and security of the facilities, materials, equipment and vehicles owned and operated by the Head Start program. 

Experience: At least six months experience working in child care facilities maintenance services and familiar with Facilities Maintenance Safety Rules and Regulations

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED plus training and certifications in appropriate areas of facility maintenance
