Driver (San Antonio) (AVANCE)

This position is responsible for  transporting families to and from home to Avance centers, and special events.  Periodically will involve extended working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Experience: Previous experience in childcare transportation, Care Safety Training, Van Driver Training

Child Development Teacher/Texas Wintergarden (Early Head Start)

This position is responsible for working with infants and toddlers utilizing specilaized knowledge and skills in order to properly address the physical, cognitive, social and emotional developmental needs of children. Positions available in Uvalde, Crystal City, Batesville, Sabinal and Rocksprings. 

Experience: Required: Six months in a licensed childcare facility or in a public/private school early childhood facility unless candidate has completed an early childhood degree program where practicum(s) were required. Preferred:Some experience working with Infants and Toddlers in a child development center or home-based program

Required Education: A Child Development Development Associate Credential (CDA) that is appropriate to the age of the children being served in center-based programs

Bus Monitor/Teacher Assistant I (San Antonio) (Head Start)

This position is responsible for providing childcare services for children and monitoring and ensuring the safety of the children while on board the bus, exiting the bus and to their destination point. The bus monitor/teacher assistant  is responsible for providing children with a safe learning environment and providing them with child development instruction/activities as directed by the Teacher, Center Director, and Education Coordinator.

Experience: Required: One year working with children in a licensed child care facility. Preferred: Two years working with children ages 3-5

Coordinator of Education Services (Head Start)

This position is reponsible for planning and coordinating the early childhood education and development services provided in AVANCE's Head Start Program to ensure compliance with the underlying principles and goals of AVANCE, Head Start Performance Standards, program goals and objectives and the needs of the community.  Provide supervision, guidance, training, mentoring, and support to assigned staff and monitor the quality of early childhood education and development services that are provided to toddlers, and their families.

Experience: Required: Four (4) years experience in early childhood education and development services. Work Experience may be substituted by advanced training in Early Childhood Development or related fields. Preferred : Four (4) years experience in an early childhood program serving three and four year old children, or supervising and managing early childhood education and development programs for three and four year old children.

Required Education: Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

Preferred Education: Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

Coordinator of Health & Nutrition Services (Head Start)

This position is responsible for the coordination of health services within the Head Start program designed specifically to prevent, identify and provide treatment for children’s health needs. Coordinates the process of assessing children including initial screenings, ongoing assessments and other needed specialized evaluation. Responsible for working collaboratively with parents, health care providers and other community health resources to address the health and/or medical needs of children with suspected or identified medical conditions to develop a plan of care.  Develop and implement systems and procedures to ensure the AVANCE Head Start Program complies with all Head Start program requirements for health services, assure that basic health needs for all Head Start children are met, and promote health practices that prevent future illnesses and injuries.

Experience: Required: Two to three years of work experience in the delivery of community health services, one year of which must have been in an administrative and/or supervisory capacity.

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science, Child Development, Social Work or related field.

Preferred Education: Master’s Degree or higher in Health Science, Public Health, Social Work or related field.

Facilities Maintenance Technician (Head Start)

This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, safety and security of the facilities, materials, equipment and vehicles owned and operated by the Head Start program. 

Experience: At least six months experience working in child care facilities maintenance services and familiar with Facilities Maintenance Safety Rules and Regulations

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED plus training and certifications in appropriate areas of facility maintenance

Family Development Worker/San Antonio (Head Start)

The Family Development Worker will be responsible for providing Head Start families with comprehensive family development and adult education services through the development and implementation of an individualized service plan. This position will ensure all services focus on promoting the educational and economic success of the parents that will promote the child's overall growth and development.

Experience: One to two years working with at-risk families and experience with case management systems

Required Education: Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Ssociology, Psychology, Education or related field

Center Director (Rocksprings) (HS Wintergarden)

The major responsibilities of the Center Director will be to manage the:

  1. Operations of the center
  2. Delivery of services to children and families
  3. Staff performance in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, Texas State Licensing Guidelines, AVANCE Policies and Procedures and all applicable regulations and local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations.

Experience: Required: At least two years of experience in a licensed child-care center with at least one year of experience as an assistant center director or center director of an Early Childhood Program.

Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a Bachelors Degree in a related field with at least 18 hours of early childhood development. Six college credit hours in business management. Must be Bilingual in English and Spanish
