Assistant Early Head Start Director (AVANCE)

Leadership and management skills and abilities are essential to overseeing the staff and operations of a comprehensive, quality child and family program on a daily and on going basis.

Experience: Minimum three years working for a non-profit organization or social service entity in program development and implementation in the field of family support and or childhood education personnel management and public relations.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with related work experience in early childhood education.

Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Child Development Teacher (Parent Child) (AVANCE)

This position is responsible for working with infants and toddlers utilizing specialized knowledge and skills in order to properly address the physical, cognitive, social and emotional developmental needs of children.

The Director of Human Resources originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes safety, excellence, caring, goal-attainment and retention.  Responsible for the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.  Supervises two human resources employees in an organization with approximately 400 staff.

Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources. Strong generalist background in human resources with specific experience in employee relations, employment law, training and development, performance management systems, human resource planning, compensation, benefits and human resource information systems.

Required Education: BA or BBA in Human Resources, Business Organization Development, or related area from an accredited institution.

Executive Assistant and Board Liaison (AVANCE)

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Executive Assistant and Board Liaison will provide executive support to the Executive Director and administrative support to one Senior Director.  The Executive Assistant will serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the office of the Executive Director.  The Executive Assistant will serve as a liaison to the board of directors and senior management teams; organize and coordinate executive outreach and external relations efforts; and oversee special projects.  The Executive Assistant must be creative and enjoy working in a mid-sized, entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven, results-oriented and community-centric.  The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.  The Executive Assistant will have the ability to work in independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.

Experience: Strong work tenure: five years of experience supporting C-Level Executives, preferably in a non-profit organization. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat.

Required Education: Minimum of an Associate Degree or equivalent with 5 years of related work experience in a business or nonprofit environment.

Parent Educator (Parent-Child Education Progr (AVANCE)

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing the Services to Fathers Component of the Parent-Child Education Program.  This position's emphasis is to work directly with fathers to include recruitment, oversight, instruction, organization and provision of resources for parents and children in accordance with AVANCE's mission and policies.   To lead planning and execute parent activities and events, as well as to provide information, referrals, and consultation services to participants as needed.  Will also solicit community support and volunteerism.  *Must be bilingual and able to work in high pace environment.


Experience: One year experience in an Adult Learning Center, Early Childhood Program and/or District Pre-School.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Adult Education, Social Services, Early Childhood Development or related field.

Preferred Education: Course work in Classroom Management, Social Services and/or Early Childhood Education, Adult Education, Social Services or related field.

Parent Facilitator of Parental Engagement (AVANCE)

This position partners with direct staff to assist with outreach and recruitment for program participation; and assists with facilitating multi-component education and prevention programs to include planning, coordination and implementation of parental engagement and related support services for parents and children in accordance with AVANCE's mission and policies.

Experience: One year of classroom experience in teaching and working with adult groups or social work.

Bus Monitor/Floater (Early Head Start)

This position is responsible for providing childcare services for children and monitoring and ensuring the safety of the children while onboard the bus, exiting the bus and to their destination point.  The Teacher Assistant is responsible for providing children with a safe learning environment and providing them with child development instruction/activities as directed by the Teacher, Center Director and Education Coordinator.

Experience: Required: One year working with children in a licensed child care facility. Preferred: Two years working with children ages 3-5.

The Home Educator role is that of a resource for parents and a facilitator for learning in a home-based program.

Respects and promotes the unique identity of each parent and child and refrain from stereotyping on a basis of gender, race, ethnicity, culture, religion or disability, follows program confidentiality policies concerning information about parents, children, and other staff members.  Knows each child's capabilities and modes of learning, to assist with individually appropriate activities in the classroom.  Promotes feelings of security and trust in the children by being warm supportive and comforting. This position requires the ability to visually and audibly monitor children, bend, lift, stoop, sit on the floor and pull in variable directions when working with children and equipment.

Family Development Worker (Uvalde) (HS Wintergarden)

This position is responsible for Case Management services through referral, advocacy, and brokering.  Services will be provided to families in compliance with the underlying principals and goals of AVANCE policy, and Head Start Performance Standards, federal, state, and local regulations.
