Bus Driver (San Antonio) (AVANCE)

This position is responsible for  transporting families to and from home to Avance centers, and special events.  Periodically will involve extended working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Experience: Previous experience in childcare transportation, Care Safety Training, Van Driver Training

Parent Educator (Parent-Child Education Progr (AVANCE)

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing the Services to Fathers Component of the Parent-Child Education Program.  This position's emphasis is to work directly with fathers to include recruitment, oversight, instruction, organization and provision of resources for parents and children in accordance with AVANCE's mission and policies.   To lead planning and execute parent activities and events, as well as to provide information, referrals, and consultation services to participants as needed.  Will also solicit community support and volunteerism.  *Must be bilingual and able to work in high pace environment.


Experience: One year experience in an Adult Learning Center, Early Childhood Program and/or District Pre-School.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Adult Education, Social Services, Early Childhood Development or related field.

Preferred Education: Course work in Classroom Management, Social Services and/or Early Childhood Education, Adult Education, Social Services or related field.

Assistant Cook (Early Head Start)

This position is responsible for assisting the Cook in providing nutritious meals and snacks for children enrolled and attending AVANCE's Early Head Start programs and coordinates food services for all EHS special events.  Maintains kitchen safety and health standards according to licensing standards, USDA Regulations, and Health Department.  Maintains a positive attitude while performing job duties.

Basic Job Duties:
Clean, cut, and cook meat, fish, or poultry.  Bake breads, rolls and other pastries.
Cook food according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served.  Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils and other cooking equipment. Clean and inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.

Experience: One year experience in commercial kitchen or in a public school cafeteria as a cook.

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED; Must have a Food Handler Certificate.

Preferred Education: Post-secondary courses in related field; must have a Food Handler Certificate.

Child Development Teacher/Parent Child (Early Head Start)

This position is responsible for working with infants and toddlers utilizing specialized knowledge and skills in order to properly address the physical, cognitive, social and emotional developmental needs of children.

Experience: Required: Six months in a licensed childcare facility or in a public/private school early childhood facility unless candidate has completed an early childhood degree program where practicum(s) were required. Preferred: Some experience working with infants and toddlers in a child development center or home-based program.

Required Education: An Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field with at least 18 hours of Early Childhood Development coursework completed.

Coordinator of Education Services TX WG (Early Head Start)

This position is responsible for planning and coordinating the early childhood education and development services provided in AVANCE’s Texas Wintergarden Early Head Start Program to ensure compliance with the underlying principles and goals of AVANCE, Early Head Start Performance Standards, program goals and objectives and the needs of the community.  Provide guidance, training, mentoring and support to assigned staff and monitor the quality of early childhood education and development services that are provided to children.

Experience: Required: Four (4) years experience in early childhood education and development services. Work experience may be substituted by advanced training in Early Childhood Development or related fields.Preferred: Four (4) years experience in a early childhood program serving toddlers, or supervising and managing early childhood education and development programs for toddlers.

Required Education: Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

Preferred Education: Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

Health Administrator (Early Head Start)

Assisting with clinic appointments, confirmation, and managing missed appointments to ensure the support is provided to encourage the families to maintain preventive services for their child/children.  Complete the intake process with the eligible families in the program, providing them a detail overview of the Early Head Start services.  Provide assistance in the developmental screenings, also Health Staff must have a strong interest in working with at risk children and families with the ability to relate and help them feel at ease. Enter information into the PROMIS Reporting System, generate reports maintain financial record for health exams and treatments through purchase orders and check request.

Experience: Minimum of one year experience in a realted field.

Required Education: Associates Degree in Public Health

Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree in Public Health

This position requires the ability to visually and audibly monitor children, bend, lift, stoop, sit on the floor and pull in variable directions when working with children and equipment.

Experience: Two years working in a licensed child care facility.
